Hello and welcome to HCM,
The interpretation of the MRT report is as follows:
There
MRI shows many functional abnormalities in the cardiac functions.
The left atrium of the heart is dilated or enlarged. There is
diastolic dysfunction in the heart.
Diastolic dysfunction refers to dysfunction in heart during resting phase.
The mitral valve (the valve between left atrium and left ventricle) is prolapsed. Prolapse refers to dilated and floppy valve. A prolapsed valve is incapable to maintain uni-directional flow of blood.
In addition to prolapse, there is calcification around the mitral valve.
All the above mentioned structural abnormalities have led to functional abnormalities which includes
mitral regurgitation or back flow of blood from left ventricle to left atrium and back flow of blood from
right ventricle to
right atrium.
This back flow of blood compromises the cardiac function of delivering adequate blood to peripheral tissues.
You need to consult your cardiologist for clinical assessment, relevant investigations and thus treatment.
Thanks and take care
